Monte Grappa Commemorative Day

In the 1930s on Monte Grappa, Feltre, Quero and Pederoba there have been built different shrines, mausoleums or monumental cemeteries to gather the corps of Italian, Austrian, Hungarian, German, English and French soldiers who died between October 1917 and November 1918 on Monte Grappa and Piave and buried in countless cemeteries which were situated near battle fields or behind military hospitals.
Do not forget to visit the Military Shrines and River Piave in Nervesa della Battaglia.
In addition there is Bassano del Grappa with its majestic Ponte Vecchio, also called Ponte degli Alpini, River Brenta and all the places that have highlighted the events of World War I and World War II.
The tour that we offer symbolically traces the battle fields, though it also describes a daily routine which was practically identical on both sides of the field; simple men, brave youths who were ready to give up everything for “Monte Grappa, tu sei la mia patria…”

It is a very touching civil and religious ceremony to remember the millions of soldiers that rest in peace on these grounds, which was the final bulwark that freed and brought Italy to independence.

Trenches, the guard posts, soldiers lives, but also the difficulty, the fear and sacrifice of these men, humble people, fathers and youths; The long journeys with mules, the weapons, the everyday objects and… the memories.
The history and the memories about Monte Grappa and its surroundings, where it is possible to acknowledge the daily life of those dark and far gone days…
